SURROUNDING AREA
(THE BEAUTY AROUND THE FARMHOUSE MARGIONE)

Entering the courtyard of the farmhouse Margione and admiring the beauty of its surroundings is a journey back in time: there are no signs of modernity and industrialization but the landscape is a hypnotic succession of fields and dry-stone walls.
The landscape seems almost unlimited and you feel peaceful and calm, scanning a glimpse so wide that goes from the traditional countryside to the beach of Noto, Marzamemi, to the Lighthouse that, with its flashes, it is a reference in the quiet nights of Frigintini.
Among to more than two hundred thousands of carobs and olives trees, you can walk the paths or rent a bike for free. You can also penetrate into the forest road and go on towards the fields.
A more impressive path leads to “o Mulinu ri Bancari” (watermill of Bancari). This path offers an impressive view: it is a natural venting of the rock (commonly Known as “u minciuluni ri Natali”) which when it rains furnish vast amount of water and it arrives to join with the main watercourse.
A bit far away, you find the watermill. Unfortunately, the vandals took away the internal parts but the structure is still impressive and touching.
During the fascist regime, farmers with mules and sacks of wheat came here to get flour secretly, otherwise, they were forced to grant part of its to the Italian state (the so called “sistema degli ammassi”).
